Don’t Miss the Official END OF SUMMER EVENT!

On Saturday, August 26th, Alderman Michelle Harris invites the entire 8th Ward Community to Join Us for the Celebration of Education Parade & Jamboree. 

Our free picnic will be held at Jesse Owens Park, 87th & Jeffery Blvd.   

Bring the Kids, because we’re giving away free hair cuts, book bags, & school supplies!  If you are interested in being a part of the Jamboree, please call the office at 773-874-3300.

FEMA APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN

Today, President Biden declared a major disaster in the State of Illinois.  This action makes Federal funding available to affected individuals in Cook County.

Groundbreaking on our New Metra Stations coming to 79th Street & Woodlawn and 87th Street & Ingleside in the Great 8th Ward!

The June 23rd ceremony was attended by many of our Legislative and Community partners, including Cook County Commissioner Stan Moore & Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle

About Michelle A. Harris

Alderman Harris has lived in the 8th Ward for over fifty years and has been a member of the 8th Ward Regular Democratic Organization for over forty years. She is a graduate of Bryn Mawr Elementary School, Chicago Vocational High School and Chicago State University. Alderman Harris is also a life member of Christ Temple Cathedral Church.

Alderman Harris has a distinguished history of public service in the Chicagoland area. She served as the Secretary to the Board of Commissioners of Cook County, Chief of Staff to former Alderman Lorraine Dixon and Superintendent of the 8th Ward – Department of Streets and Sanitation.
Alderman Harris was appointed Alderman of the 8th Ward on December 13, 2006, and elected in 2007. She was re-elected in 2011, 2015 and 2019.
